Monday Morning Programs Stitch of the Month (SOM)
Join us at each regular meeting as we study the "Stitch of the Month" (SOM) with Flowers of Italy from the ANG website. It was designed by Ro Pace and can be found at: http://www.needlepoint.org/Stitch.php Pictures
of completed projects and colorways can be found with the December
on-line instructions.
We will discuss the Ornament Quartet pattern that was given to members in December. The ornaments will be discussed by Janet W., Sandy R., Letti D., and Erica L. We will continue our Stitch of the Month program with the Waffle Stitch which will be led by JoAnn K. We need volunteers to lead the other months of the Stitch of the Month Program for the year. Please see JoAnn K. or Jane T. to help out. If you forgot in January, bring in 2 - 3 projects for us to choose from and your $5 to enter the 2012 Challenge Project.
Janet W. will lead us in a program called The Sentinel from the 2001 Chapter Project Book. Cost of the pattern is $3. This is a really fun project that reminds us of our own Split Rock Lighthouse here in MN. It is a lighthouse on a rocky shore with trees and bushes completing the landscape. It has a variety of fun stitches, colors and fibers, yet it stitches up fast because the design size is only 6 ½” x 6”. There are two sections where the instructions indicate painting your canvas. This will be discussed and photos shown of how to do this. Sign-ups for the pattern have begun. If you will not be at the February meeting to sign up in person, contact Jo Ann so she can add you to the list. We need a volunteer to lead us in the Stitch of the Month.
April 2 Fancy That by Cyndi Parker and progress check of 2012 Challenge project Sandy R. will lead us in a project called Fancy That from one of the old Chapter Project Books. Cost of the pattern will be $3. Sign up for the pattern will start at the February Meeting. This piece finishes into a pendant, pin or hair ornament, belt buckle, scarf slide, needlebook, or your choice of something else. It’s stitched on a piece of 8” x 8” congress cloth but measures about 3.5” by 3” when finished. Also please bring in your Project Challenge selected at the January or February meeting so we can check your progress! Again, we need a volunteer to lead us in the Stitch of the Month.
May 7 Achieving Perspective in Needlepoint by Lois Kershner And don't forget that the weekend of May 5 and 6, we will be having Lois here to teach "Monet's Garden". If you would be interested in starting a Group Correspondence Class that weekend or doing the Workshop by Mail, currently a piece by Cara Hayes, please contact JoAnn K. or Jane T.
Saturday Morning Programs Saturday Morning Programs – 9:00-2:00 – Ridgedale Byerly’s Community Room
We will discuss the Ornament Quartet by Marilyn Owen. Also if you still wish to participate in the 2012 Project Challenge but were unable to attend in January, bring $5 and two or three unfinished projects to this meeting.
March 10 Stand-Up Finishing led by Janet K., time extended to 3:00pm Bring The Count of Needle Mania or another canvas/linen project you wish to finish as a stand up.
